Before Burton went with the black helmets they have today, they had helmets similar to UT. White base with orange strip, and a fat or stretched B. If I can find a pic I will post it.
Does anyone have pics of old LPD helmets? If you do I would like to have them. Doesn't have to be LPD if you have some of other surrounding schools. Old is essentially any team whose helmet does not look the same as it does now!
If the helmet is basic (no logo) and you can describe it, that is fine too.
I'm compiling a page on Hogoheegee.com of them. You can go to that site and use the "Contact" feature at the top to reach me. I would link it but I'm not allowed to post links on here until I have made three valid posts...
Thanks,

in my day it was a white helmet with a black B and we had to use black electrical tape to put a black stripe down the middle of the helmet. my senior year we switched to the Orange B.

Back in the 70s and 80s and early 90s JJ Kelly had very similar helmets today, White, red facemask, and an arrowhead with a K on it.
Mid to late 90s they went Red with Florida state spears.
When Saunders took over he went with Red helmets with white K's
When BI took over he went back to the white helmets with red arrowheads.

Looking back at my dad's Appalachia "yearbooks," I saw that in the 70's rather than the Bulldogs having the plain blue helmets with a yellow facemask, they actually had Bulldog head logos on the sides of their helmet. I thought this was very interesting since it later became an Appalachia trademark to have some of the most plain uniforms out there. I'm sure this was probably the case in other years, too. Does anyone know when this started/stopped?
A couple others I can think of are:
- Coeburn used to have plain white helmets with the word "KNIGHTS" in blue letters, underlined, if I remember correctly
- Clintwood used to have plain green helmets with the number of the player wearing it shown in white
I think I might have a few of these already. You may be able to help me out on the years...

Hogo, keep up the great work with your website. You're doing an awesome job so far with it
If I am not mistaken, Appalachia started out with their trademak "A" and went to the bulldog sticker about 1977, Sarge Reed's first year of coaching there. They didn't start with the yellow facemasks until the color of the helmets changed from a real dark blue to the color they are today.
I also have pictures of the 1937 Appalachia Bulldogs. My late father-in-law played on that team. They had the leather helmets. He was the starting left guard on offense and weighed in at a whopping 137 lbs.
